"Plein Air Painting" is one of my joys but every day I paint in the studio with my "Mind’s Eye". These studio paintings are always more expressive because I am not confronted with a lot of information and I don’t feel the need to show realistic aspects of the subject. In viewing my "studio paintings" and "on location paintings", you would think two different artists are involved - in a way, that is very true!
Jo Ann is a Virginian by birth and a South Carolinian by choice. She attended Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and studied print-making, drawing and design at Dabney S. Lancaster College, Clifton Forge, VA. She has studied with Chen Chi, Ed Betts, Jeanne Dobie, Barbra Nechis, Stephen Quiller, Charles Reid, Christopher Schink, Georg Shook, Ralph Smith and Doris White. She attended the Rangemark Master Class founded by Barse Miller in Winter Harbor, Maine and the School of Realism in Seattle, Washington.
Jo Ann is a signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society, an international organization.
